wait a minute, was I the only one on y2k watch #10yearsago ?
December 2009
ah, in the city again :)
ok, modernizing an ancient class is now complete. Should be trivially faster, but a bit more capable. No more Vectors :)
ok, I caved. rewriting the decade old code into something a touch less amateurish… just a touch though. It’s a quickie fix. really…
wow, adding new features to some core utility code I wrote back in 1998… resisting temptation to rewrite it all…
feeling unsocial. just monitoring twitter via web once in a while. code and music for today.
going dark. some quiet time away from bluetwit, email, interwebs, twitter. Just some code and some music. laterz!
gullible responder, lucky story or creative marketing, whatever the actual story behind this, the end result is great: http://bit.ly/77xpUw
and there goes metaplace: http://www.massively.com/2009/12/21/metaplace-announces-january-1st-shutdown/
Makoto Shinkai coming out with a new flick: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2009-12-21/distant-star-makoto-shinkai-outlines-next-work
only 3 sec less daylight than yesterday. Time for the switch soon :)

hmm, instead of upgrading the disks in my NAS (2x500GB), I’m thinking I’ll just get another NAS. Any suggestions #lazywebs?
the beginning of the end. The twitter API begins to get standardized: http://is.gd/5sSrK http://is.gd/5sSsI http://is.gd/5sStB
ugh, this code from another developer and I are just not compatible. I’m half beautifying, half recoding.
what’s your goto Java List construct? I’ve been rather blindly just using ArrayList. Anything better or drawbacks? (#dc4 <- use this tag)
i’m sure there’s an important issue buried somewhere in these blog posts, but I just can get to reading all them words…
ok, caught up on profile posts, emails, twitter, bluetwit, communities and newsgroups.
enjoying a cinnamon tea cake… with tea :)
note to self: really how hard is it to get it’s and its straightened out. Time to stop blaming fast fingers and just do it right… sheesh
interested as to why people insist on mentioning their religion in their twitter bios. I guess for some it is a fundamental bit of info.
hmm, realized I just did a #lazyweb as a blog post… which probably was more work that just looking it up myself… #lazyweb #fail
as I was contemplating ignoring plurk, here they are getting plagarized, open sourcing code, and an API… finally: http://blog.plurk.com/
ok, sudden bout of paranoid. taring up my projects/ and exporting it to the NAS server. yes… I know… rsync should be my friend.
downloading the latest abdera. it’s still at 0.4.0 (apr *2008*). At this rate just rename it 1.0 and call it a day.
sigh… twitter search ignores * characters…
design brevity is a skill not known to me. feature creep, however, I excel at.
mmm, Studio Ghibli’s next film: http://karigurashi.jp/
Must not let our cats learn this…

mmm, asiago pesto bread from the local bakery.
ugh, power flux in the house. laptops survived. desktop is rebooting. oddly, the NAS also seems to have survived somehow.
hard to get a late night answer, but a SQL qu: how to get results 350-400 of 1000 hits w/o having to load all 1000.
ah, URL shorteners. missing the point as to why we *have hyperlinks*… all because of twitter’s 140 non meta data serving limit.
had a chat with a ditch diver today.
fixed “bug” by opting to support “defaults” rather than throwing errors on null values.
opening the day tracking down a bug only to find out it was intentionally done as a “feature”. One of those defaults vs required issues.
why are folks surprised that google tracks? ISPs routinely do the same and coop with law when needed. I know, do no evil. (*dc2 <- use tag)
morning mail check. then off to code and create some slides.
anyone have any opinions about this? http://www.engadget.com/2009/12/11/asus-eee-box-eb1501-primed-for-479-amazon-pre-order/
twitter background image for marketeer says “Thank you for following me”. To bad he doesnt know I blocked him…
must… not… let… our cats get this big. Though it has a very sweet meow at the end.

I wish the saved searches in the twitter web sidebar shows “new” messages. #dc1
that was a very cool experiment. *Much* more conversational w/ >2 people. See the “transcript”: http://bit.ly/5TfSLq #dc1
that way I can even mumble to myself but put the twitter in a “thread” of sorts without name drop hell #dc1
but of course, usability depends on the capabilities of the 3rd party client, or twitter search cataloging in a timely manner #dc1
